After a bit of a crisis after "We Don't Stop," it's good to see FIESTAR with some better material up their sleeves. I think they can do so much better, and the promise they showed as rookies -- that quirky, fun, spunky girl group -- was never really realized. But even so, "One More" has its merits. I mean if they're going to go this route they might as well do it well, right?

"One More" is the kind of sexy that doesn't just depend on the visuals or the performance (the music video for this is questionable, but I'll save that for another time) but is inherently sexy. I first heard this without watching the video, and I knew exactly what they were trying to do with the song. And for a pop release, I think that's very important. We're still very much a radio culture, and the rules of radio remain -- catch your potential listeners by making every single second memorable, make your hook ridiculously catchy, and put your point across with just the song. All of which we more or less see in "One More."

The hook is simple, repetitive and easy to sing along to, but at the same time melodic and has strong recall because it's an actual word/phrase with a melody that occurs throughout the instrumental. The melody at the chorus is similarly repetitive, but in a more subtle way -- regardless of whether you hear the first line or the last, it's the same. Recall is further strengthened by the fact that the lines are, themselves, very short and spaced-out.

"One More" is an adequate attempt at a listener-friendly sexy song, one that is well-done enough that I wouldn't mind listening to it again.

  1. It's also so rare for a sexy idol K-pop song to actually be about sex, let alone threesomes. I think this made One More instantly more interesting than any other sexy songs which were covered in obvious metaphors.
